FAQs for the Shifa Program

  1. Q. Please explain how is the Shifa summer program different from the regular Dar Al Tawfiq (DAT) program offered during the Fall and Spring semesters.
    A. The Shifa program was developed to meet the requirements of students who are traveling from abroad during the summer. The Shifa program is 8 weeks long as compared to 13 weeks for the regular semester programs, and therefore, the Shifa program provides students the opportunity to obtain Islamic knowledge in a shorter period of time. The students from the Shifa program have the ability to supplement this knowledge further through the SunniPath online courses. The Shifa program also offers the students several packages of different courses. These packages of different courses are offered at a lower price than the regular individually priced courses during the Fall and Spring semesters. Finally, the students have the opportunity to obtain additional Islamic knowledge by taking other courses, some of them are free.

  2. Q. When is the Shifa Program?
    A. The Shifa program runs from June 20, 2010 to August 19, 2010.

  3. Q. Please provide further details about student advising available for students in the Shifa summer program.
    A. Students will have the opportunity to obtain guidance and direction from the Dean of the Academy on future Islamic studies, whether from the SunniPath Online classes, DAT program, or any other Islamic institutes.

  4. Q. Please provide further details on the free trips that will available for the Shifa program students
    A. The Shifa program plans to have two trips to several locations in Jordan. These trip details will be provided during the summer program.

  5. Q. I plan to stay in Jordan for one year so please provide information on the DAT program for the Fall and Spring semesters.
    A.The DAT program for the Fall and Spring semesters will provide an opportunity for students to further their studies. The students will be able to take higher level of Islamic courses in Arabic, Fiqh, and Tajweed departments.

  6. Q. How about classes for children?
    A. The Shifa program does not offer classes for children. There are some nursery schools nearby that parents can look into.

  7. Q. Do you have baby sitting service?
    A. Baby sitting service is not available.

  8. Q. Is there any payment plan options?
    A. Yes, there is a payment plan consisting of three payments. Your first payment will be 40% of your non-weekend (primary and secondary) courses and total lodging accommodation selected. The remaining two payments will be due on May 1st and June 1st and will be equally divided between the two months.

  9. Q. Are there any discounts for the Shifa program?
    A. Yes. The package that we are offering has built in the tuition fee significant savings for students from the regular priced courses offered during the Fall and Spring semesters. On top of that we are offering many free services and activities that will make this program one of the best values you can find this summer.

  10. Q. What if I want to withdraw after registering?
    A. Students who withdraw before April 30th will receive a FULL refund of all tuition and housing fees paid. Between May 1st and June 1st, a $100 USD will be charged as a withdrawal fee. Starting June 1, a $600 (USD) fee for courses and $500 (USD) for lodging accommodation (if applicable) will be deducted from amounts paid during the registration period. The remaining amounts will be returned to the student within 2-6 weeks after the withdraw request is made. There will be no refund for any fees paid if the withdrawal request is made on or after June 15th.

  11. Q. Who are the teachers?
    A. The Shifa program will have same qualified teachers from the SunniPath program. Please see this link for further details on our teachers.

  12. Q. How long is the Shifa program?
    A.The Shifa program is 9 weeks long. There will be 8 weeks of instruction in the core program with a few days scheduled for trips and activities.

  13. Q. What type of lodging accommodations are available for the Shifa program?
    A. For students who need assistance finding housing, we can help make your arrangements. Housing fees are as follows:

    Housing includes a kitchen and Internet. Utilities other than the Internet are not included; these costs will depend on usage but average around 15-20 USD per student per month.     For lodging refund request during the withdrawal period, please note that 500 US Dollars will be deducted from the lodging payments already made during the registration period.
